	The Cooperman Fife and Drum Company was founded in by Patrick H. Cooperman, by trade a woodworker and furnituremaker. After serving in WWII, Mr. Cooperman got involved in the fife and drum corps of his VFW post. He made a pair of drumsticks for himself and then for others. This led to experimentation with fifes. His trade in hand made drum sticks and drum repairs grew until he founded his company in 1961.
	The Coopermans bought a Vermont based Maplecraft Manufacturing in the mid 1980s. Maplecraft Manufacturing had specialized in drum shell manufacturing for over 60 years prior to becoming part of the Cooperman company. Using the finest Vermont maple, the Cooperman company has continued to make drum shells and banjo rim blanks of the highest quality.
