Dear Friends,
From time to time I get requests for custom work. My time for working on rims is squeezed in between my "real" job, time for my family and the volunteer work I do.To make best use of my available time, I try to do the same operation on a few rims at a time. Therefore a custom job has to progress along with my production flow, and that is unpredictable. have developed the following no-fault scenarios. A CUSTOM RIM ORDER FORM is now available.
Custom rim, no hardware Submit specifications by the Custom Rim Order Form. You will recieve a quote in a few days. You pay nothing up front. I make a rim to your suggested specs, or as close as I can as time and materials allow. When the rim is ready, I contact you with the final price (which may be higher than the quote) and give you first shot at buying it. You have the right to decline to buy the rim. Conversely I have the right to make several copies of the same rim or none at all. Having said that, I am usually motivated to make a rim that I know has a buyer waiting for it.
Custom rim, with hardware you supply Some folks want me to build a rim using parts they have. In some cases I MUST have the parts in hand to make a good fit. This includes flanges, metal tonerings and bracket bands. Submit specifications by the Custom Rim Order Form. You will recieve a quote in a few days. I cannot work under a deadline, so be prepared to wait. If you feel you ave waited too long, you can cancel the work and I will send your parts back. I will give you a quote up front, but reserve the right to raise the final cost if I run into unexpected material costs or difficulties.
This plan has potential risks for you (higher cost than expected, longer wait than expected) and for me (the job turns out to more difficult or more costly than expected). Good communication and a bit of patience and goodwill on both sides and are highly recommended for a successful outcome.
Respectfully,
Mark Hickler
